Your Health, Our Commitment

Due to the unprecedented spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Massage Theory has heeded the recommendations of local, state, and federal leaders alike and elected to close its doors for the time being.

With the health and safety of both our clients and staff members in mind, we want to do all we can to contribute to mitigation efforts across the First Coast and the country. However, we want to also ensure our clients that Massage Theory is committed to their health year-round, and makes every effort to make its office one that is both welcoming and sanitary.

The health of both our staff and clients is always our first priority, and we believe the best way to keep you both happy and healthy is to foster an environment that is consistently clean.

It Starts With Our Staff

In our employee handbook, we include guidelines regarding standard sanitary precautions for our staff, outlining how they may best prevent transmission of diseases, maintain physical cleanliness on-site, and contribute to the overall sanitization processes of our surfaces and tools.

For example, we encourage them to not only wash their hands regularly but to extend their use of soap and water up to the forearms and elbows. We also encourage the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) whenever necessary, particularly as the disease may transmit via blood, mucous membranes, body fluids, rashes, and more. 

We also adhere to CDC guidelines, such as recommending proper vaccines to mitigate the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases.   

Clean Hands Are Safe Hands

As previously stated, we ask that our staff wash their hands up to the forearm and elbow regions. Additionally, we provide an outline of various scenarios wherein staff members are required to wash their hands, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Both before and after they make direct contact with clients.

  • During massage sessions if necessary.

  • After using the restroom.

  • After handling garbage, soiled linens, or other contaminated items.

  • After they sneeze, cough, blow their nose, etc.

  • And more.

Otherwise, other situations where we consider hand hygiene to be necessary, albeit less frequent, includes:

  • Before and after caring for or visiting someone who is ill.

  • Before and after treating somebody with wounds.

  • Before and after handling other contaminated medical or massage tools.

Best Practices, Best Team

Aside from general personal practices, we are also committed to regularly cleaning our office space, including shared surfaces (such as counters and massage tables), linens, massage resources, and more.

Our employees always wear disposable gloves and use paper towels to sanitize contaminated areas with the proper cleaners, then disposing of both the aforementioned after the area is clean and air-dried.

Once the sanitization process is complete, they then wash their hands again.
